Who Am I?

Who am I and why am I here posting as Just Another Tech Lead? Well, I’ve been In the Software Engineering world for nearly 20 years. I started as a Junior Dev, working in VB.net, C#.Net and MSSQL. I worked through various jobs and various technologies and made my way to where I am today, a Software Engineering Manager at a large multi national company. I’ve worked as an Engineer in a service department capacity in a company that technology wasn’t its product. During my career, I’ve been part of Software houses, Start ups and large multi national companies. My path has been fairly standard through the ladder of promotion: Junior Engineer, Senior Engineer, Technical Team Lead, Technical Manger and Software Engineering Manager. I’m not sure how I made it to where I am today to be honest. It’s all a bit of a blur to be honest.

Why am I starting a Blog?

I’ve been following the big boys of tech blogging for years, such as Scott Hansleman, Jeff Atwood and Joel Spolsky. I’ve always enjoyed reading about the industry and being able to absorb the years of experience through others words. I feel with nearly two decades experience in the Software Engineering industry I’d like to start sharing what I’ve learned. I’d will also write about how things are changing and the direction I see the industry going in the future. It’s definitely not all altruistic sharing on my part! I’d love to get feedback from you on my Blog as a way for me to continue to learn. I want to share thoughts on the industry, the day to day life of someone in my positions, interesting articles I read, courses I take, books I read etc. I will use this blog as a diary as well and come back to revisit the ideas I’ve written in years to come to see how much I disagree with my past self.

Who is this Blog aimed at?

Well, anyone really. It’s mostly going to be of interest to Software Engineers and Leaders. But I will be posting about interactions with Product, Project Managers, QA, Management, Sales, Business. So. guess there’ll hopefully be something for everyone (well, not everyone, but a small portion of everyone).
